𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐋 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆: 𝑬𝑿𝑷𝑳𝑨𝑵𝑨𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵 𝑩𝑬𝑯𝑰𝑵𝑫 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑺𝑪𝑬𝑵𝑬𝑺 𝑶𝑭 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑴𝑨𝑲𝑰𝑵𝑮 𝑶𝑭 “𝑴𝒀 𝑫𝑬𝑨𝑹𝑬𝑺𝑻”
THE MAIN SONG
At first, I wanted my theme song to be a message for my lover back then who rudely broke my heart decisively. I had a song in my mind, actually it’s an American song, with a modern music theme and modern instruments used. This is called, “Over You”, from an American brand called The Daughtry. The reason why I didn’t continue covering this song is because I wanted to move on, and I believe that the first step for that is to stop thinking about him.
That’s why, in this project, I decided to make another performance song featuring one of my inspirations why I keep going, in this world I believe that can never be fine. This song is called “My Dearest”, and it’s from a Japanese band called, “EGOIST”. My Dearest is a message for a lover, that is, it’s actually a love song that is willingly, voluntarily love, and a freewill. Let me explain it briefly: The girl is in love, but her lover, who is the boy, is down on earth, but in fact, he is also in love with the said girl. It’s like a depressive love, which contains sadness, loneliness, despair, and misery. The reason why is not mentioned well in the song but there’s a theory that this song is based on real life, and the main character of this story is the singer of the band, EGOIST. Proceeding to the next part of the brief story, the girl and the boy is deeply in love with each other, ‘causing the girl to be possessive, into the point that she is willingly to stay by his side even if the world turn him out, even if the people called him a liar, even if everything goes wrong, there she is, the girl, she wanted to stay and go with the trials along with the boy. This is very an interesting story if it goes fine and well, or if
an author made this a story, it would be wonderful. Going back, as I mentioned before, it’s actually a love song, an inspired love story, but can you guess what and why I came up with this song?
I actually have no friends. In real life, if you observe me and examine my whole messed up life, you can never see anyone as ‘friends’. That is, if you had magic. Maybe, there’s one in my life back then, from my past, maybe yes, I could consider him as ‘friend’. But that is from the past so, a fun fact. He’s not my friend anymore. So let’s go back to the main topic, the reason why I came up for this song. This is actually for my dear friend who thinks of me as an acquaintance, but it’s not my point to point out here how our relationship is to each other, but there’s only one thing that is important. It’s what I decided to make and considered her as a ‘friend’. If you would ask me the reason why, maybe we can proceed to another section.
THE MESSAGE ITSELF
So yeah! Can you imagine what the message is for my dearest? It suits her right, “My dearest”. Before we start, I have my own belief and saying:
Not all love songs are based on ‘love’, and not all of the songs can be considered as ‘love songs’: and not all of the songs can be inspired by love nor the message itself and it delivers.
For my dearest friend, if you are reading this, or maybe not, maybe you already stopped halfway from here, but I want you to know that this song is for you. Continuing from the message, it’s just the same.
I also wanted to stay, willingly, I’m not forced, I’m not forced by anything, anyone, and I will never be. I am not pathetically just joining to stay because of being ‘pathetic’, but I want to stay because I know there will be a chance of us sticking together. Again, it’s not about love, but it’s an inspiring story that is about friendship.
It’s not about how deep the feelings are, it’s not about how there’s a chance of being together, it’s not about love! It’s the willingness of the person, it’s how she wanted to have a person to stay by her side and in return, she would do the same. Even if that person she wanted is not going to return the same, but in the end, all that she will do is to stay, because she sees herself from that person. Maybe from the future? From the past? We don’t know. But I believe this person that I’m talking about is very pure, she’s somehow the girl you can never expect to come into your life, again, it’s not about love. Look at the purities I’m mentioning, will, being free, peace, this describes her as a human. Her feelings are valid, that’s why this person wanted to stick around with the person she wanted to be with, believing someday, she’ll recognize that she’s the one who’s always there whenever she needs someone.
THE MAKING
For editing platforms: I used two applications for edits and transitions, Capcut and Video Maker, these two help me to make my own lyrical video much easier, and less hassle so I can focus on making this.
Source: The song, “My Dearest”, I got this instrumental song, or which the one you know, “The Minus One”, it’s actually from Youtube, a sharing website where videos and some official music are the content.
Record Session: I used only one application for recording. I found this easy to use so yeah, I decided to use this as my recording platform since I already used this before, but back then, I’m not really into recording and covering voices although I can sing, but I’m not used to these kinds of applications before. This application is called ‘Bandlab’, which you can find at Google Playstore, it’s free to use and very helpful.
Lyrics: This translated lyrics is from AnimeLab website, a site where Japanese songs are translated and showed, some of the writers of the song itself are uploading their official lyrics there so that from other nations, they can understand it well and feel it since it’s translated in basic main language, which is English. Since it’s a Japanese song, it’s highly recommended for them to translate it. I also got the source of the Kanji version of this in AnimeLab, and the roman language of it on how we can pronounce it correctly while singing it. Very helpful, right? If you want something to know and especially if it’s a Japanese song, you can search there freely and use it for your own good. Just don’t forget the credits!
INORI YUZURIHA
Inori Yuzuriha is from an anime called, “Guilty Crown”, which is the opening song of “My Dearest”, is it’s opening song. Many people know this and consider it as the theme song although the author and director of this anime series didn’t mention it at all.
I decided to make this character, Inori, as my main picture and background for my video project, is because first of all: she’s one of the main characters in the
called anime series, and why not? This is where I heard the song for the first time, so that is. Second: Inori is my favorite character of all time! If you watched the anime series, she’s somehow the girl you can call, as the Silent One. She’s emotionless, she looks like she feels nothing, but she’s strong inside. Physically and emotionally, she’s strong as she is, she is the reason why the main character keeps going on, naturally, the song fits them both. What a masterpiece right? Going back, Inori is deep inside sad, for she knows she will disappear as soon as her mission is accomplished. That’s why both of them strive together until the end to end the pain they’re experiencing and put it into an end where time by time, they believe they will meet again someday, in a specific time.
